Scientific & Technical Details About Mesogold®

Gold has been used for health purposes throughout the millennia for a myriad of conditions, including arthritis, head pain, and swollen joints, but the difference is that now it is available as a true charged colloidal, so there no toxic build-up. Gold will calm the entire neural system, relax nerves, relieve stress and stress-related pains, help the libido and glands function, as well as help regulate the heart's rhythm.

Why choose Colloids for Life products?

Because products from Colloids for Life are manfuactured from only the purest metals and water available using the mesoprocess™.

The mesoprocess™ is trademarked name of an advanced proprietary process developed by the scientists at the Colloidal Science Laboratory, Inc. This unique new process produces metal colloids consisting of mesoparticlesand having a very high percentage of particles vs. ions. Metal colloids produced using this unique new method are call mesocolloids™.

The mesoprocess™ is the result of thousands of hours of research conducted over several years directed at developing a continuous process to produce metal colloids of virtually any metal, including those from the platinum group. The mesoprocess™ is capable of producing colloids whose particles are much smaller than those produced by other methods. The size of the particles in mesogold™ are than 3~4 nm in diameter.

The Mesoprocess™ is capable of producing colloids whose particles are much smaller than those produced by other methods, resulting in the highest particle surface area per unit volume of solution.

Mesogold® consists of 0.9999 gold mesoparticles suspended in pure deionized water. The actual size of the gold mesoparticles has been measured to have a mean diameter of 3~4 nm. This is uncommonly small compared with the size of particles found in other commercially available colloidal gold products. Over the years, CSL has measured the particle size from many colloidal gold samples. Of the products measured, the smallest particles typically fall in the range of 70 to 90 nm, rarely smaller, and in some cases much larger, with sizes ranging up to several hundred nm in diameter. HVAC produced gold colloids typically measure 70 to 90 nm in diameter and chemically produced colloidal gold typically measures about 20 nm in diameter. See the particle size report produced by the Colloidal Science Laboratory, Inc.(CSL) for proof of the small size particles in Mesogold®.

Color: Mesogold® is clear ruby red colored liquid. There is no noticeable turbidity (cloudiness). The color appears to change somewhat from light ruby red to dark ruby red to purple with increasing concentration of the gold present.

Content: The gold content of Mesogold® is 100% contained in the particles. There are no gold ions in Mesogold®. The purity of the gold used to make Mesogold® is 0.9999. The mean size of the gold particles is 3~4 nanometers in diameter.

Process: Many years of research by the scientists at the Colloidal Science Laboratory, Inc. (CSL) have gone into the development of the processes used to produce our Colloids for Life products. Research and development is an ongoing effort whose purpose is to keep our products on the forefront of quality and effectiveness. Our affiliation with CSL means that we have available a state-of-art colloid laboratory and a scientific staff whose experience spans more than a half a century. The effectiveness of colloids is predicated on exposing the largest possible surface area of the metal particles to the areas of interest. For this reason particle surface area is an excellent metric for comparing the physical properties of colloidal products.

Importance of Particle Surface Area

For a constant concentration of metal particles, the particle surface area increases as the particle size decreases. In the chemical world, reactivity increases with increasing surface area. Therefore, the effectiveness of colloidal solutions increases with decreasing particle size as the particle surface area increases. For this reason, particle surface area serves as a metric for comparing colloidal solutions. In metal colloids the increase in reactivity that derives from the increased particle surface area translates directly to effectiveness of the colloid. Surface area is expressed in square centimeters (cm2) per milliliter (mL) of colloidal solution, and is written as (cm2/mL).

Mesocolloids™

Colloids consisting of mesoparticles have a particle surface area that is many times greater than colloids produced by other methods and are called mesocolloids™. Mesocolloids™ have the highest particle surface area of any colloid known to exist. Mesocolloids™ combine: small particle size and high concentration of particles. Mesocolloid is a trademarked name that refers to an entire group of metal colloids that are produced using the mesoprocess™. The term mesocolloid was coined by the scientists at the CSL who developed the method of producing colloids consisting of mesoparticles™.

Uncommonly Small Particles: Mesoparticles are defined as particles that are larger than an atom and smaller than conventional small particles. The size range of mesoparticlesis:

from less than 1 to 10 nm (nanometer) in diameter and
typically consist of 10 - 30,000 atoms per particle.

Just how big is a nanometer?

A nanometer is one billionth of a meter

The diameter of a human hair = 73,000 nm. (about 3/1000 of an inch)

The actual size of the mesoparticles in mesocolloids™ has been measured to have a mean diameter of 0.65 nm and is estimated to contain about 9 atoms. Compared to the size of particles found in other commercially available colloidal products this is uncommonly small. Over the years, CSL has measured the particle size from many colloid samples. Of the products measured, the smallest particles typically fall in the range of 10 to 90 nm, rarely smaller, and in some cases much larger, with sizes ranging up to several hundred nm in diameter.

Compare: Mesocolloids™ have the maximum particle surface area for any given concentration of metal content. Compared to colloidal products produced by other methods, Mesocolloids™ have the highest particle surface area because of the combination of small particle size and high concentration of particles. See the Comparison Table for comparative examples. Mesocolloids™ are characterized by the small size of the mesoparticles™ that constitute the colloid and the high percentage of particles vs. ions. The mean size of the particles is less than 1 nm in diameter (0.65 nm typical) as measured by Photon Correlation Spectroscopy(PCS). For more details on the relationship of particle surface area as a function of concentration and particle size, see the Colloid Surface Area table.

Mesoprocess™

A trademarked name of an advanced proprietary process developed by the scientists at the Colloidal Science Laboratory, Inc.

The mesoprocess is a continuous process used to produce metal colloids of virtually any metal, including those from the platinum group. Metal colloids produced using this unique new method are called mesocolloids.

Background

The most common methods used to produce colloids today include:

  • chemical precipitation,
  • electrochemical, and sonoelectrochemical techniques

These methods typically produce particles whose sizes ranges from 10 nm up to several hundred nanometers. The size of the particles in mesocolloids are typically1~4 nm in diameter.

Ions vs Particles

The Mesoprocess produces colloids containing:

  • a high percentage of metal particles vs. metal ions
Colloids produced by the mesoprocess have a high percentage of particles vs ions, typically 80% to 100% depending on the metal. Some electrochemical processes result in colloidal solutions whose metal content consists of only 1% particles, while 99% is ions.
  • smaller particles than those produced by other methods

The term mesocolloid was coined to refer to a group of metal colloids that contain mesoparticles and are produced using the mesoprocess. The first products of the group to be commercially produced are Mesosilver® and Mesogold®. Other mesocolloid products will follow in the near future.

See our Products page for a list of colloids produced using the mesoprocess.

Colloidal Silver Products Can Help You Live A Healthier Life
When browsing through the many different colloidal silver products available today, you may be asking yourself “What is colloidal silver?” To get a better understanding of what really is colloidal silver and what it can do for you, it is helpful to know what a mineral colloid is.

A mineral colloid is a supplement that is capable of providing the body with certain minerals that help you maintain an optimum level of health. Minerals are able to help the body build soft tissue and other essential life-sustaining elements in your body

Silver has been used since the 19th century to help benefit the body. In the years prior to 1938, colloidal silver products were commonly used by doctors as an antibiotic treatment. Since production of these products was typically expensive, however, the pharmaceutical companies stopped producing these products and moved on to others that were more lucrative to produce.
