Ingredient Summary

Glucosamine (from Sulfate and glucosamine HCI) Glucosamine is an amino sugar is a constituent of cartilage proteoglycans, required for the synthesis of glycoproteins, glycolipids and glycosaminoglycans (mucopolysaccharides). These are carbohydrate-containing compounds found in tendons, ligaments, cartilage, synovial fluid, mucous membranes, structures in the eye, blood vessels and heart valves.

Boswellia Extract (Boswellin serrata) The applicable part of the Boswellia serrata tree (found in India) is the resin (guggulu). The principle constituents of the gum are boswellic acids, which inhibit 5-lipoxygenase and leukotriene synthesis, and inhibit leukocyte elastase. Boswellic acids inhibit some autoimmune disorder mediators. Boswellic acids can reduce antibody production and cell-mediated immunity. Boswellic acids can decrease glycosaminoglycan degradation.

Yucca Extract (Yucca schidigera) Yucca is perennial from the agave family (Agavaceae), native to the hot and dry desert parts of North America and Central America. The Yucca root contains saponins that have both a water and fat soluble properties.

Sea Cucumber (Pseudocolochirus axiologus) The sea cucumber is an echinoderm found on the sea floor, named because of its cucumber-like shape, rich in sulphated mucopolysaccharides (chondroitin sulphate) which contain glucosaminoglycans (GAGs) and saponins (trite pine glycosides). It contains cell growth factors that stimulate cell regeneration.

Stinging Nettle Extract (Urtica Dioca) Stinging nettle is approved for internal use by the German Commission E for difficulty in urination and in benign prostatic hyperplasia stages. A plants of the genus Urtica where stinging nettle is a species containing important phytonutrients including a histamine, acetylcholine and serotonin.

Shave Grass (Equisetum arvense) An herb that contains large amounts of silica and lesser amounts of calcium.

Devil's Claw Root Extract (Harpagophytum procumbens) Devil's claw a desert herb Native to southern Africa, named for the miniature hooks that cover its fruit. The active ingredients in the root of Devil's claw include an iridoid glycosides (Harpagoside) and harpagide, substances that inhibit leukotriene biosynthesis (an anti-inflammatory effect).

Methylsulfonyl Methane (MSM) MSM is a bioavailable naturally occurring, dietary source of sulfur and a metabolite of dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO)

Turmeric Root Extract (Curcuma longa) The deep yellow ground up dried root of the herb turmeric member of the ginger family, Zingiberaceae used in curries contains the active ingredient is is the polyphenol curcumin.

dl-Phenylalanine dl-Phenylalanine acts via PEA mechanisms to regulate Serotonin production and utilization, thus inhibiting the "spreading depression" model and nutritionally inhibiting the production of enzymes which defeat naturally occurring "pain-relievers" (endorphins and enkephalins), aiding the reduction of pain and inflammation. The biosynthesis of other amino acids and some neurotransmitters are derived from the essential amino acid Phenylalanine that can also be converted to tyrosine by a biochemical process in the liver.

Black Cohosh Root Extract (Cimicifuga racemosa) The root of the native North America plant Black Cohosh works by binding to serotonin receptors.

Licorice Root Extract (Glycyrrhiza glabra) Licorice is an adaptogen that comes from the root of the herbaceous perennial Glycyrrhiza glabra. Licorice blocks a key enzyme which degrades cortisone allowing the bodys natural steroids produced by the adrenal glands to reduce inflammation.

Feverfew Extract (Tanacetum parthenium) Feverfew is a short perennial member of the sunflower family, native to southeastern Europe that has citrus-scented leaves and daisy-like yellow flowers. The active ingredients in the leaves of feverfew include parthenolide and tanetin that are beleived to inhibit the release of serotonin and prostaglandins.

Bromelain High GDU/g (Ananas comusus) Bromelain is a group of sulfur-containing proteolytic enzymes obtained from the fruit and stem of the pineapple plant and other plants. Other substances include; peroxidase, acid phosphatase, protease inhibitors, and calcium.

Potassium (from Glucosamine KnaCl) The essential alkali mineral Potassium is the major cation inside the cells and important in the maintainence of fluid and electrolyte balance in all body systems.
